Do you all remember those days when we would be glued to the windows of denim stores, asking our parents to buy us a snug little pair of jeans because it was just so in?! It is almost like we grew a second skin on our legs as we kept changing what we clad our torsos in. Be it T-shirts, shirts, crops or vests, we’d wear everything with jeans. However, I despise to be the one to break it, but our beloved tight jeans are fading out of style by the day! No, no, don’t lose hope so quick my beautiful people. Today, I am going to present to you some trending alternatives that can take up the front row of your shelf.
1.) Palazzos:
These pants are the most comfortable creation to have ever existed! Nonetheless, unlike pyjamas, these can even be carried in a party with ease. Palazzos are super roomy pants with a lot of flare and are often pleated. They are generally high-waisted and get flared starting from the knees. These wide-legged pants are generally crafted out of light and cool fabric that definitely surpasses skinny jeans when it comes to comfort.
Where did they come from?
The initial track record of palazzos indicate that they were worn by the revolutionary Coco Chanel in the 20’s. They saw the trend rise to the pinnacle in the 1960s. By the 1970s, they had become a formal beauty as well with the addition of crisp suits.
How do I pull them off?
I know it can be a little daunting to pick out something to go with these intimidating pair of pants but worry not, it is simpler than you think. Putting on a suit per se would ensure that you can carry yourself formally. For party wear, you can put on cute crop tops and silk blouses. Do not hesitate to clad yourself in full sleeves or turtlenecks as they would really give you a bold look. Since they are so long that they hover around your ankles and beyond, wearing heels or high raised shoes would do a great job!
2.) Culottes:
These are looser than the jeans, but they are not a skirt. They are just like palazzo pants but end halfway down the calves itself. Yes, even these are way more comfier than the torturous skinny jeans we have put ourselves through.
Where did they come from?
This elegant beauty runs down since the 15th century as the military and aristocratic men of Europe would feature in them. However, Elsa Schiaparelli, the biggest rival of Coco Chanel, was the first woman to sport the look in the year 1931.
How do I pull them off?
Considering the vast history that culottes carry on their back, they still go beyond their way to showcase class and elegance at its best. It is very important to pair your culottes with the right kind of top. Since these pants are wide and loose, it is advisable to wear them we itch tight or short tops. If you are going for something chic, you can put on a snug silk blouse to go with. You can tuck it in or decide to leave it out up till the waist. If you are going for something casual, you can contrast it with a cotton crop top. If you are going for something formal, pair it with a collared button down and then tuck it.
3.) Tapered Pants:
These are contrary to the aforementioned two types. They are a little wider at the top and start getting narrow and skinny as it proceeds to the ankles, a little like the Jodhpurs.
Where did they come from?
These pants do not have a long history like the other pants. They were really trendy in the 1980s and then their decline was marked by the rise of jeans. Now, they are basking a stunning comeback.
How do I pull them off?
Though these are not the most comfortable or formal pants, they sure as hell can kill a casual and sporty look. Pair them with a casual tee or knot it into a crop and they would do you over with an edgy personality. If you match it with a party top, no one can stop you from rocking it at a club or a dinner as well.Moreover, guess what’s the best? You also do not require heels for this look. Throw in a pair of sneakers and you are all set!
4.) Pegged Pants:
It is amazing how all these trendy pants are so comfort-oriented. It surely portrays the upcoming generations preference for comfort. Pegged pants have an appeal of the formal pants at the waist region and continues to narrow down as it proceeds towards knees. However, then it narrows down and tightens only at the ankles.
Where did they come from?
These are a brand new creation by our modern designers. Pegged pants are technically a cross between cigarette pants and harem pants. Cigarette pants dominate the upper region as the harem part could be observed right at the ankles.
How do I pull them off?
Even these pants give more of a hippie vibe. They call out suave with both, heels as well as sneakers. Pair them with a top according the occasion and you are all ready to slay with your looks. These go amazingly well for movies, cafes, travelling, and so on. The simpler you keep them the more sophisticated they look.

5.) Cigarette Pants:
Just as the name suggests, Cigarette pants are in the shape of a cigarette. Straight-cut down to the ankles. The fit is such that it is equally skinny throughout not so tight that your skin cannot breathe anymore. They start from the waist and stop just above the ankles.
Where did they come from?
These were at the peak of style in the 1950s. They were not exposing or too snug. They were just the right amount of formal and matched with the society’s definition of a well-dressed woman as well. They were very popularly worn with checkered shirts and tank tops.
How do I pull them off?
If you looking to dress-to-kill, these pants scream perfection for you. You have to worry about pulling these off the least as they kind of do this job for themselves. Their versatility is their biggest asset! You can literally wear them EVERYWHERE. They go the best with tops either tucked in or at least half tucked in. A basic T-shirt would also do you good. Moreover, the fact that they end above ankles gives you an ample opportunity to show off your footwear.
To conclude, though the jeans are slowly slipping out of the hall of fame, we have a plethora of alternatives to not only make us feel better but to also look better. Here is fun fact: the founder of Savelo himself doesn’t own a single pair jeans! He also believes that there are so many ways to play with the pants mentioned above depending upon your preferences and personality! This not only gives a variety to your wardrobe, but also widens your scope of styling everyday. All that I want to tell you all is that do not hesitate from experimenting and finding out what suits you the best. At the end of the day, it all boils down to what you like and what you envision yourself carrying. After all, your trend is how you make a statement for yourself!
